Health and Disability

Child Development Media » Health and Disability

A myriad of questions surround new parents as they bring their children home for the first time: what to feed baby, how to clothe him, nurture him, and watch their child grow and develop. But many families are faced with more difficult questions concerning their baby’s health and wellbeing.

Genetic issues, such as heart and lung defects, hearing deficiencies, autism, or ADHD, can complicate the early years of a child’s life, as any number of problems can emerge and change the direction of a child’s development.

The materials in this section help to shed light on the issues surrounding health and disability, and serve to inform parents and early childhood educators about the potential health problems that can complicate a child’s growth. While many titles simply present a broad overview of a particular topic, others offer a more in depth discussion of a specific issue, including preventative and self-management strategies.

Many titles are designed to help parents understand their child’s individual health challenges, while simultaneously supporting their child’s quest to manage their own health and behavior.
